The first professional player since Justin Fashanu, has come out. David Testo, 30, who played in the midfield for Montreal Impact until last month told CVC Radio-Canada that he is gay.
Football is believed to be one of the hardest sports for players to be open about their sexuality but Testo is receiving positive feedback and support: "I didn't really expect to have this kind of echo. It kind of blew my mind — all the positivity and support and well-wishes. I just can't believe it."
