Massive fire destroys barn in Swansea as flames leap into the sky close to homes


A massive fire has destroyed a barn in Swansea.

Flames could be seen in the sky as fire crews battled the blaze for five hours on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning (July 27 and 28).

The fire started at the derelict building near Chemical Road in the Morriston area of the city, and the cause is now “under investigation”.

Fire crews from Morriston, Swansea Central and Tumble were called to the scene just after 10pm and they stayed on the scene until 3am.

Crews will return on Wednesday morning to inspect in case of re-ignition.

A statement from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said: “The police were also in attendance. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
