Recipients of payments including child benefit, tax credits and Universal Credit will receive their payments earlier than usual this Easter.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) – which manages the system – shifted the dates due to the timings of the bank holidays on Good Friday and Easter Monday this year, reports the Mirror Online.

The change means that those expecting payments on Friday, April 2 or Monday, April 5 will instead be paid on Thursday, April 1.

This covers recipients of payments including:

  • Child benefit
  • Tax credit (both child tax credit and working tax credit)
  • Universal Credit
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer’s Allowance
  • State pension
  • Pension credit
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payments

If your expected payment date does not fall on a bank holiday, you will get your payment as normal.

DWP says all payment changes are automatic, so there is no need to get in touch with them.
