A woman claims she almost died following her Moderna vaccine after blood clots were allegedly misdiagnosed as anxiety – three times.

Shamika Brown, 29, began suffering intense aches and pains throughout her body a few days after receiving her first coronavirus vaccination in late April.

“After the first shot, I had normal symptoms such as fever, chills, tiredness, arm soreness, and headache,” said Shamika.

“But a few days later, I began to feel sharp pains on and off by my heart.”

She went to a medical center where she said doctors did blood work and then told her she was experiencing an anxiety attack.

Shamika was discharged, but claims she continued feeling aches and pains, which intensified after her second dose of the Moderna vaccine.

“Everything was fine the first night, but the second night I began to feel the aches and pain and I couldn’t move, eat, or sleep,” she said.

“That went on for three nights, and I was having breathing problems and pain in my heart.”

She went back to the hospital and had blood work and an X-ray before again being told that she was suffering from an anxiety attack. She returned home and her symptoms worsened.

“I had pain in my neck, my shoulders were very tight and I began to have more stomach pain,” she said.

She claims she returned to the emergency room two days later for the third time and was again told that she was having an anxiety attack.

After two days of her symptoms worsening, her husband rushed her to a different emergency room.

“My neck pain and breathing got intense, I had pain in my left upper and lower abdomen and more than ever I began to feel a throbbing pain through my back because that’s how bad my chest pain was,” she said.

“I knew something was wrong and they kept saying I was having anxiety attacks.”

Shamika went to another hospital where she was immediately given a CT scan and was told she had a blood clot in her lungs and one near her heart.

“The doctor told me if I waited another week, I would’ve died,” she claims.

Shamika, from Virginia, USA, was given blood thinners that she must take for six months, but she said life has become very difficult due to being misdiagnosed for so long.

“I didn’t get help in time,” she said.

“I’m no longer able to work as a delivery driver because of the shortness of breath.”

She added: “I’m still having pain in my chest, and I’ve lost hair and 25 pounds due to the clots.

“I can’t even play with my children like I want to anymore because I’m always out of breath.”

She added: “If you’re taking the vaccine and you have the same symptoms as me, please go to the hospital immediately, because you just might have blood clots.

“I’m grateful to be alive and maybe things will be better for me, but a lot has changed since the blood clots.”

A representative for Shamika’s first clinic said they couldn’t ‘address the nature of treatment or the condition of patients’ ecause of privacy rules.

They said: “We cannot comment on Ms. Brown’s experience in our emergency department.”
